Popstick Market Stall

Download Activity Template
Get ready for Book Week and create your own market stall using popsticks and paper! This activity is inspired by the book ‘Market Day’ written by Carrie Gallasch and illustrated by Hannah Sommerville.
  • Step 1Download and print out the market stall template provided. We recommend using cover paper for best results when decorating.
  • Step 2Decorate your template pieces using markers and give your stall a name. You might like to draw your own fresh produce or market stall items using the empty boxes template.
  • Step 3Cut out each of the template pieces. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 4Place two popsticks flat on your work surface as shown. Place another popstick horizontally across the top of the first two popsticks. Place three more popsticks next to each other horizontally along the bottom, as shown. Glue the popsticks in place and allow to dry.
  • Step 5Glue the awning piece to the top popstick. Align the top edge of the template with the top edge of the popstick. Allow to dry.
  • Step 6Glue your produce boxes onto the top popstick of the bottom three popsticks. Align the bottom edge of the template with the bottom edge of this popstick. Allow to dry.
  • Step 7Glue the remaining template pieces wherever you like to finish decorating your market stall. Allow to dry.
  • Step 8Your Popstick Market Stall is now ready to display!
