Step 1Decide what size you would like your monster to be. Lay 6-10 straws out in a row so the sides are touching. The more straws you use, the wider your monster will be. Draw a line across the straws to determine how tall your monster will be and cut each straw at the line. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Add another straw in the middle of the group to create a handle. Glue the straws together ensuring the long straw for the handle is in the middle and allow to dry.
CLEVERTIP: Don’t throw your offcut straw pieces away - they can be used to create more monsters!
Step 2Place the straws over a sheet of copy paper and trace around the body part. Cut out the shape and glue to one side of your monster. Add patterns and textures to your monster’s body using markers if you wish.
Step 3Print and decorate the templates provided and cut out your chosen monster features and accessories. Glue wiggle eyes and the template pieces to the copy paper to create your monster’s face.
Step 4Use chenille stems to add crazy hair or some antenna eyes! Glue and allow to dry.
Step 5Your Paper Straw Monster Puppets are now ready to put on a show!
