Step 1Print the template provided onto cardboard for a sturdy surface. Decorate your template with pencils or markers.
Step 2Cut out the four template pieces along the outlines. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors. Cut along the dotted line on the circle template. Cut along the dotted line within the apple to create a slit – be sure not to cut all the way to the edge on this piece!
Step 3Thread the end of the circle (the back feet of the caterpillar) into the slit of the apple from the front.
Step 4Continue to feed the circle into the slit in an anti-clockwise direction until only the edge sticks out. Use a glue stick to attach the longer tab in line with the edge, so that it hangs out over the side of both the circle and apple. Allow the glue to dry.
Step 5Holding the edge of the apple, spin the tab clockwise until it reveals the caterpillar. Stop just before you complete a full circle, so the end is still inside the slit.
Step 6Flip the apple over so you can see the remaining end of the circle. Use a glue stick to attach the smaller tab to the end and allow the glue to dry. This will prevent the caterpillar from slipping out of the apple.
Step 7Flip the apple back over and use the long tab to spin the caterpillar back inwards. Your Spin Card is now ready to spin out and in again to reveal your Caterpillar!
