Leaping Leprechaun

This fun and interactive St Patrick’s Day craft will have you jumping for joy like you’ve just found the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! Use simple craft materials to create a leaping leprechaun that will provide hours of fun for children and adults alike.
  • Step 1Download the template provided and print out on cover paper. Decorate using pencils, markers or paint. Allow to dry if needed. Cut out using scissors. Adult supervision is recommended when using scissors.
  • Step 2Take 2 paper cups and decorate one as a leprechaun and the other as a pot of gold with a rainbow. You can use our image as a guide.
  • Step 3Use a sharp pencil to carefully poke 4 holes around the edge of the leprechaun cup opening. Place one at the front of the cup, then directly opposite at the back and the other 2 on either side of the cup.
  • Step 4Take 2 rubber bands and cut them so you have 2 long elastic band pieces. Thread 1 band through the holes front to back, tying large knots on the outside so the band holds in place. Do the same with the second band, threading it through the side holes and tying in place so the bands form a cross. Trim any excess.
  • Step 5Accordion fold the legs from step one and glue them in place on the leprechaun cup. Allow to dry.
  • Step 6Place the leprechaun on top of the rainbow cup ready to leap. Push the leprechaun down and then release to watch your leprechaun leap into the sky!
