Colouring In Sheets for NAIDOC Week

Celebrate NAIDOC Week and Indigenous culture with these printable colouring sheets illustrated by Indigenous Artist Belle Leonard. NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week honours the achievements, culture, and history of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Belle explains the meaning behind each of her illustrations:

Happy N.A.I.D.O.C. Week! (Template page 1)

“NAIDOC Week is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their culture, history and achievements. This artwork is a map of different people, Indigenous or not, sharing experiences and coming together to acknowledge First Nations culture.”

Coolamons (Template page 2)

“Coolamons are traditionally used to carry water, fruits and nuts and are often painted or engraved with storytelling art. This artwork is about the value of sharing with others and embracing what makes us different.”

Goannas (Template page 3)

“The Goanna is a wise creature. In many Dreamtime stories, the Goanna is seen as a spirit of creation and a role model. This artwork shows Goannas crawling along the sun-soaked sand.”

The Serpent (Template page 4)

“The classic story of the Rainbow Serpent moving along Mother Earth and shaping the valleys and hills around us.”

CleverPatch™ recommends educators, teachers and event organisers work in consultation with their local Aboriginal Communities (start locally and extend out geographically) when planning activities & learning experiences. Any creative or art making activity that mirrors or replicates Aboriginal cultural experiences should always be undertaken in consultation with the appropriate owners of that cultural property.

Some materials and products may contain terms that reflect authors' views, both current or past. These views may not be considered appropriate today and are provided in a historical context. These views are not necessarily the views of CleverPatch.
